Philippines - 1942 to 1945 Japanese Occupation Issues

The Japanese Government
大日本帝國政府 (The Imperial Japanese Government)

These are some of the Japanese invasion money issued between 1942 to 1945 during the Second World War. Japan occupation of the Philippines started on the 08.12.1941, 10 hours after they launched the attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The occupation went on for over 3 years until the Japanese Government officially surrendered on 02.09.1945.

The notes below are some of the banknotes issued during the occupation period. The notes were all printed with English texts and the Kanji (Chinese characters) of 大日本帝國政府 (read from right to left on the banknotes). These banknotes, like all others issued during the Japanese occupation of other Asian/Pacific nations immediately became worthless after the war. Majority of these invasion monies were printed only with 2-letters prefix with no serial numbers.
