Philippines 100 Piso 2012 Manila Hotel Commemorative. To those who are not living in the Philippines, they must be wondering why a banknote was issued to celebrate this hotel. Well, the Manila Hotel is the most well known and prestigious hotel in the country. The hotel was first opened on 4.7.2012 and obviously this note was overprinted to celebrate the 100th year of it's inception. Since then, the hotel has been the temporary home of many well known personalities, royal families, the rich and the famous, politicians both local and foreign (the good, the bad and the ugly) including General MacArthur and his family, the Japanese army during WWII, Bob Hope, Marlon Brando, Tyrone Power, John Foster Dulles, Robert Kennedy, Sir Anthony Eden, Charlton Heston, Burgees Meredith, the Rockefeller brothers, John Wayne, Publisher Henry Luce, Richard Nixon, Dwight Eisenhower, Lyndon B Johnson, the Beatles, King Juan Carlos de Bourbon and Queen Sofia of Spain, Prince Albert of Monaco, Prince of Cambodia Norodom Ranariddh, Benazir Bhutto, Indonesia Megawati Sukarnoputr, Romania Ion Iliescu, South Korea Roh Moo-Hyun and Bill Clinton. Of course there are many others too, but just too many to mention here, after all, this blog site is all about money only! Well, everyone has been there except me. I wonder if you have to pay just to get into the lobby?
